Since its foundation in 1822, the Academy has acquired and created important collections of instruments, artworks, memorabilia, manuscripts, letters, scores, performance materials and other objects.

Permanent Galleries

Our Strings and Piano Galleries allow students, staff and visitors to get a closer look at a selection of our finest instruments, artworks and manuscripts.

The galleries are an integral part of the York Gate building and also serve as teaching and rehearsal space, putting them at the heart of Academy life.
